Who knows when I will leave. I am surrounded by items which now replace the company that once was people. The walls that surround me have become mirrors. I look with suspicion and fear at the person I see there. In the end, who is that? Is that me? Without being given a choice, I am pushed in front of a faint reflection of someone I have unknowingly become, so I introduce myself. How are you? Are you from around here? Your face looks familiar, but I am not sure if I know you. As soon we begin to talk we’ve already made friends, sharing stories and telling secrets. By now the two of us are sitting in the room chatting back and forth of the memories we’ve shared and of the things we’ve seen. I revisit forgotten places inside me and make space to welcome those who will come with good intentions. I open the windows and shake the dusty rugs and then get comfortable. In the end, it doesn’t seem that bad, what luck! The smells of fresh bread and coffee fill the room, I breath deep in an attempt to savour every very last smell. Nostalgia bangs on the door and bursts in without permission. She came in a rush with her baggage, is she here to stay? She carries the voices of people in the street, the sensation of a tight hug and the feeling of dancing all night without keeping track of time. How rude, inviting herself in like that! Oh well, thank you for coming. The days don’t stop but I can’t help feeling that I’ve stopped in time. I do nothing but think about being stuck in the emptiness of this room, my own emptiness. I stop to think and when I think, I think only of this numbness, this absence of sense and the yearning for this to stop. I top up my glass but only with the souls of the people I no longer see. Dependant only on virtual conversations to remember and prolong their presence. Their voices nourish my soul but I can not identify them, are they real? I water the plants, my dreams and my plans, I water my desire of turning back time but I am too late as time keeps passing. I water myself a thousand times trying not dry out but grow strong roots to sustain me during the incoming storm. Here I sit living with myself as those things, which now, just like people, are no longer here. Just me and the reflexion I got to know too well. Just the two of us existing, in this live in room. A tua cara é-me familiar mas não sei se te conheço.A conversa é curta para que percebamos as semelhanças e nos tornemos amigas, a partilhar histórias e confiar segredos.As duas sentadas na sala viajamos de cá para lá e de lá para cá no íntimo que partilhamos e vimos a conhecer.Visito espaços de mim que haviam sido esquecidos e abro espaço para entrar e receber quem por bem vier.Abro as janelas e estendo as mantas, sacudo o pó e ponho-me à vontade. Afinal, não se está tão mal aqui, que bom!O odor a café e pão acabados de fazer inunda o espaço e respiro fundo na esperança de aprisionar cada cheiro.A saudade bate à porta e entra antes que dê permissão. Vem com pressa e de bagagens feitas, quererá ficar?Traz consigo as vozes das pessoas na rua, o calor de um abraço apertado e o prazer de dançar pela noite dentro com as horas por contar.Que indelicadeza, a fazer-se convidada! Pois bem, sê bem vinda.Os dias passam, mas tenho a sensação de ter parado no tempo. Não paro de pensar que fiquei suspensa no vazio desta sala, no meu vazio.Paro para pensar e penso que não vai passar este estado de dormência, a ausência de sentido e a urgência de parar.Enchem-se os copos e esvaziam-se os corpos das pessoas que não vejo. Restam-me as conversas virtuais para lembrar e prolongar a sua presença.As suas vozes alimentam a minha alma mas já não distingo a quem pertencem, serão reais?Rego os rebentos, os sonhos e os planos, rego as vontades de reverter o tempo mas já não vou a tempo e o tempo está a passar.Rego-me mil vezes na esperança de não secar e fazer crescer raízes que me sustentem durante a tempestade que se aproxima.Aqui sentada convivo comigo e as coisas, tal como as pessoas, já cá não estão. What was once a source of shared intimacy and adoration, now bears the weight of memories resonating with longing that feels at times too difficult to bear. Despite this, the passion of Madrid still stands as a beacon of inspiration that binds the broken-hearted figures. A silent acknowledgement of the bittersweet reminder of the love they once lived, and the city that witnessed their unraveling. With a photo session divided into two, the photographer becomes the model. Ana and Constança embark on a creative and intimate journey, led by Pedro Mantecon as the main character. They traverse realms of vulnerability and self-discovery. supported by Erasmus+.The aim was to show what the city of Faro really is, creating links between the city and the local population, bringing its potential to the surface. Beste wanted to explore and analyze the different elements that create Faro, including the local population's thoughts and imagery of their city. The result of this dialog is an interview that presents the local population's perspective and vision of the city.This project belongs to Contextos, a well-established cooperative located in Faro, Portugal. It was founded in 2016. Founded in 1990, it is aimed at young musicians (up to the age of 30) with a mission to revive and keep alive global cultural heritage. Present today in over 40 countries and on all 6 continents, Ethno engages young people through a series of annual international music camps as well as workshops, concerts and tours, working together with schools, conservatories and other groups of youth to promote peace, tolerance and understanding. The 2nd edition of Ethno USA took place in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of Western North Carolina from October 11-23, with two concerts at LEAF Festival.
